This summer the Virginia Historical Society invited the Richmond community to come by and visit the galleries, displays, demonstrations and sales at the Virginia Historical society open house. Many people browsed the facility and there were lots of families. The living history civilian group that I belong to the, Atlantic Guard Soldiers Aid Society (AGSAS) was invited to participate in interpretive demonstrations. I had a wonderful day and was very proud to represent the Farmville Chapter 45 at this event.

2011 3rd.District VA DIV UDC Conference

For those members who did not attend the 2011 3rd District VA Div Conference you missed a good time had by all. The Farmville Chapter 45 and the Lundenburg Chapter co-hosted the conference on April 29th in Blackstone, VA. We had a wonderful turn out with Virginia Division Officers, District Chairmen, Honorary members and all of our dear daughters in attendance. From the lovely comments we received everyone had a wonderful time. This was the last time that President Ruby Pugh will host a VA Div Conference for us.Her term is drawing to an end. President Pugh has been such an inspiration to us all and a most capable and lovely  representitive for Virginia.

The conference was held at a little place (seats 150 people) called the Herb Cottage. Whether you are planning an event or just want a destination for a leisurely drive and lunch, the Herb Cottage is well worth your time. The food is reasonably priced and I have had nothing to date that was not absolutely wonderful.
Manager, Owner, Ms. Candy Early is the most wonderful person to work with. There is nothing she cannot accomplish or is not willing to do to see that your event goes the way that you want it to.
